Sisto Sisti. Microcosmo Sinigo, Exhibition by Foto Forum, Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) 2024

Foto Forum and the Photoarchive of the Provincial Archives are pleased to announce a discussion on the exhibition Sisto Sisti. Microcosmo Sinigo with Alessandro Campaner (Photoarchive), Andrea Di Michele (Unibz), Stefano Riba (Foto Forum), and Katrin Hornek (independent artist).

The event will take place on September 24 at 6:00 PM at Palazzo Rottenbuch, via Armando Diaz 8, Bolzano, and will open with an introductory speech by the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage, Karin Dalla Torre.

The evening will begin with Stefano Riba and Alessandro Campaner discussing the exhibition (on view until September 28 at Weggenstein 3F, Bolzano) and the acquisition of the Sisto Sisti collection. Afterwards, Andrea Di Michele, Professor of Contemporary History at the Free University of Bolzano, will present the historical, social, and political context that led to the founding of the Montecatini plant in Sinigo, based on his latest book Terra italiana. Possedere il suolo per assicurare i confini 1915-1954, published by Laterza.

Following his presentation, the artist video Plant Plant by Katrin Hornek will be screened, introduced by the artist herself. Created in 2021 for Ar/Ge Kunst and BAU, Institute for Contemporary Art and Ecology, the video is the result of a year-long research project focused on the Montecatini plant in Sinigo. Hornek’s practice centers on the relationship between humanity, raw materials, industrial production, and the natural environment.

A Q&A session and refreshments will follow.
