Event: Durchgansgland-Terradipassaggio, Exhibition by Foto Forum, Bolzano/Bozen (Italy), 2025

The second in-depth event of Durchgangsland-Terradipassaggio will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Foto Forum exhibition space.

The evening’s guests will be archaeologist Giacomo Capuzzo and historian Patrick Moser.

If the first public meeting (available as a podcast on SALTO website) explored the themes of the exhibition in the present, this second event will focus on the past, including the distant past.

Giacomo Capuzzo, a researcher at the University of Trento and scientific coordinator of the MOLA project , will illustrate the trajectories of human and material mobility in prehistoric times (between the 7000 and 3000 years ago ). The EU-funded project involved Capuzzo in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Ottawa, the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, and the Eurac Research Institute for Mummy Studies. Over two years, the project investigated the social strategies that influenced human mobility and life histories from the Neolithic to the late Bronze Age, with a particular focus on the Eastern Italian Alps, specifically the Adige and Isarco Valleys.

Patrick Moser, a historian, has collaborated for years with the provincial museum at the Fortress of Fortezza. His contribution will focus on the centuries from the Middle Ages to the present day. Geographically, the focus will be the municipality of Fortezza, while thematically, he will explore the infrastructures that have shaped the landscape and determined its destiny—first as a place of rest, then as a transit hub with increasingly fast-moving means of transportation.

The talks by Capuzzo and Moser will be introduced and moderated by Stefano Riba, curator and creator of the exhibition, and will be accompanied by images from Francesca Cirilli, depicting the millennia-old stratification of human passage through the Isarco Valley.
