Foto Forum Festival

Foto Forum celebrates, with a festival, the art to which it has dedicated its exhibition program for 35 years: photography. On the occasion of the bicentenary of its “invention,” the festival looks back at its origins. Two hundred years ago, in 1826, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce created View from the Window at Le Gras, the first image to be permanently fixed.

During the festival, taking place from May 10 to June 27 in Bolzano, the technical and artistic development of the medium is explored and its inseparable relationship with society is examined. The program presents seven encounters with authors, including internationally renowned figures, three workshops for adults, two for children, a temporary exhibition, and a creative breakfast.

The program aims to present photography from diverse historical, conceptual, technical, philosophical, and social perspectives, transforming Foto Forum into an open space for dialogue, experimentation, and networking. Numerous collaborations are established with other associations, cultural institutions, and exhibition spaces such as Weigh Station, Südtiroler Kulturinstitut, Lumen Museum, ZeLIG, and the Free University of Bolzano.
